چکیده

An efficient spatial data structure in a GIS system for database updating is required in order to minimising of spatial constraint violations and timesaving. An automated constraint checking procedure has been introduced to perform constraint violations check at compiling time before updating the database. Formal definitions of spatial data types were used in attempt to formulate novel equations and architectures to detect constraint violations and framework for spatial repository. A data structure called Semantic Spatial Outlier R-Tree (SSR-Tree) was proposed for the Semantic Integrity Constraints Checking System to improve the functionality of the proposed method. The R-Tree or its variants have been widely-used data structures for this purpose and which are based on a heuristic optimization but unable to perform semantic spatial join queries at database updating. An experiment was conducted using actual spatial data and results revealed that the performance of SSR-Tree is notably superior to the R*-Tree and R-Tree for conducting semantic spatial join queries. * Corresponding author. Specifying Reactive Integrity Control for Active Databases

Recent approaches to integrity enforcement in active databases suggest not only to check constraint violations by triggers but also to utilize triggers to perform inconsistency repair actions. However, for sophisticated reactions these approaches often require refinements of already derived integrity maintaining and inconsistency repairing triggers. We argue that analyzing and specifying reacti...

On Specifying the Reactive Behavior on Constraint Violations

Recent approaches to integrity enforcement in active databases suggest not only to check for inconsistencies by triggers but also to utilize triggers to perform repair actions on constraint violations. Typically, respective repairing triggers are derived automatically from constraint specifications following almost fixed derivation strategies. However, in order to incorporate more semantic know...

Deriving Spatial Integrity Constraints from Geographic Application Schemas

Integrity constraints of various kinds must be observed when creating or updating a database in order to preserve the semantics and the quality of stored data (Elmasri & Navathe, 2000). Within the scope of geographic applications, integrity assurance requires special attention from the designer, since most geographic applications use data that depend on spatial relationships (Egenhofer & Franzo...

Consistency preserving updates in deductive databases

Several problems may arise when a deductive database is updated. The problems that are addressed in this paper are those of integrity constraint maintenance and view updating. In this sense, we define a method that tackles both problems in an integrated way and that it is sound and complete. We also propose an architecture for our method to deal with both problems efficiently. Improvement of ef...

Coping with Constraint Violation: the Practical Face of Database Integrity

We consider the problems of coping with violations of semantic integrity constraints in applications requiring long-duration, user-controlled transaction. Such a transaction will typically violate many constraints, and will have a complicated semantics that is non-trivial to repair. We propose an approach to the related problems of explaining integrity violations, and presenting possible repair...
